Cordova is one of the most lovely cities in Andalusia, and one of the most cultural in Spain. Its monuments, gastronomy, historic city centre, and beauty are the main contributers to its fame as a must see tourist destination in Spain. This city of Cordova, or Cordoba in Spanish, is situated on the shores of the Guadalquivir River and skirts the Sierra Morena Mountains. It isn't a large or extensive city, but its streets perspire history and distant memories of the Califs and moors who once ruled here as one of their most important cities. Not in vain, in the 10th Century, Cordova was the most important city in the entire world.
Cordoba today is a tourist hotspot because of its monuments such as the Mosque, or the Turkish baths, and its statues and pretty white houses in the historic city centre. All of these things together culminated in Cordova being declared a Patrimony by UNESCO in 1984.
Here one can see and do many things during a vacation: eat at the delicious tapas bars and restaurants around the city, see the monuments and statues and take a tour of the historic part of the city.
There is no need to worry about places to stay while in Cordova. You will have your choice of hotels, apartments for rent, as well as cheaper options such as hostels and guesthouses. There is more holiday accommodation to be found in the outskirts of the city like country homes and Spanish villas.
From Roman Ruins to Arabic Baths that have been converted into museums, to the Alcazar, the Sinagogue, the Mosque, and the delicious restaurants of the city, these are just some of the things you can do during your holidays in Cordoba. |
